Leadership fitness can be defined as how well a person is matched for the specific demands of a particular leadership role. If you are a good fit for a role, you will tend to perform well and be happy.


A person’s job performance is a function of Competence (Could you do the job?) and Commitment (Would you do the job?). As shown below, Competence is a function of factors such as Intelligence (IQ), Emotional Intelligence (EQ), Knowledge and Skills. Commitment, on the other hand, is a function of factors, such as a person’s Motivation, Lifestyle fitness and Mental fitness.
